Press Release Body =
Prince Chidi Bob Ezumah, international trade consultant and founder of the Minnesota-based Africa Means Business organization says his African nativity and good understanding of the global economic landscape places on him the challenge of raising awareness and consciousness on Africa, especially Sub-Saharan Africa, as a potent partner in international trade and investment.
Prince Ezumah who was a co-chair at the June 29 2007 International Roots Gala Detroit at which awards were conferred on House Judicial Committee chair Hon. John Conyers, former US special envoy to Africa, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., among others, believes the rest of the world, especially North America needs to appreciate Africa's huge investment and trade potentials.
"China sees and understands Africa's huge investment and trade potentials and is consequently doing a lot with the continent in terms of investment and trade," opines the African prince, wondering why North American and European manufacturers and investors are not as engaged in Africa as their counterparts in China.
For instance, while Africa's exports to China has been on the increase this decade, its export to Europe has been on the decrease, a situation "that needs to change in the interest of global economic development".
One reason for this, according to Prince Ezumah, is that the western media has succeeded in painting a scary picture of Africa as up to no good, as a heap of ruins, which it is not.
"Identifying Africa only with AIDS, malaria, child soldiers and hunger is unfair. United States depends on countries like Nigeria for oil. Without the coltan that comes from Democratic Republic of Congo, the cell phone sub-sector of the telecommunication industry would be in big crisis. African medical and sports professionals, among others, are making a difference in the Northern Hemisphere," explains Prince Ezumah who is working on a book that examines and highlights Africa's investment and trade potentials.
Prince Chidi Bob Ezumah is also planning a major international conference later this year on the African Growth and Opportunity Act, with partners like the Iowa-based Africa Trade Gateway, Inc. and Paschal Eze Media.
